Make It A Personalized Baby Items Christmas

It is time to start thinking about your Christmas list. I know there are some who are finished, some who are almost finished and the rest of us that need to begin. When it comes to buying for a baby the choices can be overwhelming. The toy selection is copious as is the clothing and all of the new products that baby just has to have. After having four children of my own, I realized that quality not quantity is most important. When you start making a list for babies and young children, separate them by age and gender. It is very important that when choosing an item you buy it for the age the baby will be at Christmas time. Babies grow and change very rapidly, especially in their first year of life. Now let us see what is available that would be a great baby item for each little one on the list.

A beautiful soft baby blanket would be perfect for a new baby. Now make it special by personalizing. You can make it even more special by choosing a white or ivory blanket and have it embroidered with the name and or birth date of baby in red or green thread. It is that little extra touch that makes a good item great. Do not forget that baby needs a blanket to use in the stroller when the weather gets colder in the months to come. Baby blankets are always a welcomed item and even more so if it is personalized. A baby can never have too many!

One of my favorite items to give at Christmas is a child step stool that is personalized with baby's first name. The most practical type is the one that converts from a chair to a stool. These are very popular so you must order early so as to get the color and pattern you want.

Last but not least on this list is a 100% cotton terry hooded baby bath robe. Personalized with initials and generously sized, they will still be able to use them as toddlers. Don't forget you can also use them at the beach or pool.

These are just a few my favorite personalized baby items to give at Christmas. They are all great looking, practical and made with the highest quality materials. Don't take my word for it see for yourself!

Personalized Birthday Gift Ideas

Birthdays come around every year, but some mark a special passing. The first birthday of course is remarkable, as is the sweet sixteen, making it to twenty, then thirty, 'hitting forty', and from here on comes the humor and joy of reaching a mellower time in a person's life. You might think of creating personalized birthday gifts at times such as these. A quick trip to the mall, tickets to a show or sports event just aren't significant enough to celebrate the occasion. Having something engraved, monogrammed or etched with a purposeful message can show someone the depth of caring and appreciation you have for him or her.

Customized cards

More and more specialty shops, party planners or online website shops offer personalized cards. There are some card shops with machines that can create these messages and even include a mechanism that will play music when the card is opened. These cards can be printed up with the person's name, birthday and any special message you have for them such as a favorite poem or your own written tribute to the recipient.

There are also software programs you can run from your home computer that creates such cards. This software usually only takes a matter of moments to master, but you will need to do some folding on your part after you print them. The nice thing about purchasing such a program is that naturally you can use it again for many birthdays or other celebrations.

Birthday Mementos

Almost any item can be turned into personalized birthday gifts. Clothing like sweaters, hats, caps, wraps, or jackets look great monogrammed or showing the birth date or age of the receipt if it is a milestone such as the sixteenth. Jewelry such as watches, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, lockets, and rings can all be etched or stenciled with initials or longer messages. This is an area where the giver can be very creative. Watches, necklaces, lockets, pendants or bracelets are usually wide enough for meaningful messages while rings can often hold several words as well.

Even places you possibly won't think to look can hold personalized messages from the giver. If a small tag of silver is added to the clasp of a string of pearls for example this would leave ample room for a date, initials, or even a small message etched onto its surface.

Birthday Symbols

You can also consider personal, religious or birthday related symbols when designing personalized birthday gifts. For some one dedicated to their faith religious symbols might be very meaningful and relatable to their birthday. Some people have other symbols they strongly associate with on a personal level and these can often be etched if you find the right engraver.

A birthday gift is an opportunity to show someone how they are special to you, so a personalized gift is very fitting.

Baby Christening Gifts That Shine

We have tips for choosing baby christening gifts that will draw the most attention and admiration at the reception. Wouldn't it be nice for your selection to be the standout on the gift table? Here are some ideas on how to shop for that one of a kind item that you can be proud to present.

The last thing you want to do is to max out your credit card to buy presents. Nor do you want to buy a gift that is tossed into the re-gifting basket or even worse thrown into the corners of the closet and forgotten. It seems that everyone is on a quest for something unique and different and yet they are overlooking the fact that the best approach may be to shop for baby products that are practical. Here are some reasonably priced baby christening gifts that parents will enjoy and that will make the other guests wonder where you got the idea.

Baby Picture Albums and More
How many times do precious baby photographs get damaged and lost for a lack of a proper place to protect them? This is the reason a personalized baby photograph album makes a wonderful gift to new parents. Tuck a gift certificate for a session with a popular baby photographer inside and your gift will be elevated to the status of Best Gift of the Day.

More Personalized Possibilities
Many shoppers look for something in silver to give as baby christening gifts. Silver and silver plated rattles, cups and teething rings are traditional favorites because they last forever. Pewter and other metals are just as lovely, long lasting and will save mom the trouble of polishing. If you are on a budget and want to present a personalized item that will be passed down, explore other metals.

Monogram something special for baby. Imagine how special mom will feel pushing baby through the park with a monogrammed sun shade or umbrella for her baby stroller. A special outfit with baby's initials sewn on the collar or a dress that has been hand smocked is always a hit with parents as well.

Homemade Presents for the Busy Person
Most people are too busy to make their own christening gifts but if you are smart, you can look crafty without knowing your way around a sewing pattern. The World Wide Web has many crafting forums that are full of people who would offer their knitting, crocheting and quilting services for a nominal fee. Pick out a picture of a baby quilt, blanket or other handmade baby item and send it to a highly recommended crafter for completion. Believe me when I say that your friends will be too busy showing it off to worry that you didn't make it with your own hands.

Some Ideas For Unique Baby Shower Gifts

Unique baby shower gifts are a great way to show you care. They say that you have taken enough time and effort to think about what to give as a gift. Knowing the mother is a great advantage. You can tailor unique baby shower gifts to her personality as well. With a little imagination, unique baby shower gifts can be truly memorable. You can be sure that the mother will appreciate the gesture of thoughtfulness that you are showing.

Some Initial Ideas

When shopping for unique baby shower gifts, consider food items. You can never really go wrong with giving food as a gift. This is especially applicable when you are attending the baby shower itself. Think of your food gift as a help to the mother hosting the party. You can also donate your recipes to the mother for her own collection. This way the mother can take away something even after the party is over.

Another great idea is a personalized baby gift. Nothing shows thought more than an item that is unique to the recipient. Consider embroidering the name of the child on a blanket or bib. Even if the item is mundane, the personal touch will make it special. It does not take a lot to show how much you really care.

Make Her A Star

Another interesting angle is to focus on the mother. You can put together a presentation about her. It would celebrate the kind of person she is. Doing this also celebrates the beauty of her child. You can present amusing little anecdotes. Use lots of pictures! It will engage the audience and make for an unforgettable party.

You can also prepare a scrap book for the guests to fill up. They can write down their memories in the book. The mother can treasure this forever. Also, when the child grows older, he can read the book and gain an appreciation of the events in his baby shower. This is another great way to keep the memory of the event alive. And the great thing about it is it involves the people attending the event. You can even take this advice to another level by making a scrapbook filled with parental advice. This will be such a valuable gift to the new parents. Imagine the collective wisdom of friends and family all contained in a book and written in their own handwriting.

If you really can't come up with anything, never fear. Some parents actually make up their own gift lists. You can take an item off that list and personalize it. You then have very unique baby shower gifts that show a lot of care and thought on your part. No one will be unhappy with a special gift that is meant for him alone. It will be very apparent that you really planned the purchase if you personalize the item. So find small ways to give your gift that personal touch. The recipient will probably be that much happier for it.

Newborn Baby Gifts

Selecting out a baby gift for a new baby and the mom-to-be can be so much fun. If you are a parent yourself, it would be an easy task for you since you would know what a baby would need. But if you don`t have a child, choosing a gift can also be a very overwhelming experience.

When choosing a baby gift, you should at least do a little research what an expectant mother will need daily to care for her newborn. Normally, expectant parents would prefer something useful for the baby especially on the first to six months. During this period, both the parents and baby will need a lot of stuff especially when the child is parents` firstborn.

Some of the items you can include in your list for baby at this early stage are draperies, baby pillows, baby comforters, baby formula, feeding bottles, personal hygiene products and toys that can help stimulate baby`s senses. If you are giving gift to a baby that is already a few months old, there are many toddler gifts that you can give that the child will be needing like baby walker, storybooks, shoes, clothes, educational toys, puzzles, story books and some pieces of furniture.

Picking the best baby gift can be very hard because there are so many options available. But given enough time, you can make the right decision by doing a little research like asking suggestions from some friends and family members.

Another way you can make this task easy for you is by searching some product reviews for the latest baby gifts over the internet. This can be very helpful if you are busy and short in time to visit your favorite stores. Ordering online will give you the option to choose from a wide variety of baby gifts in the comfort of your home and can help you make a wise decision.

Lastly, giving unique and personalized baby gifts is something you should consider when you want to show how important the recipient is to you. Find more unique gift ideas by visiting best-shoppe.com now.

Baby Gifts - Prelude Of Education For Babies

One of the desires of people around the world is to give everything nice to their kids. So much so that they are willing to shell out any amount to fulfill any desire of their children. This perhaps is also because of the fact that people these days are so immersed in their work that they rarely find time to play or spend some time with their kids. To cover this guilt of theirs they flood their kids with all sorts of gifts.

However, it would be wise if they spare some thought to the type of gifts they are purchasing as well. It would be worth noting that contrary to what many people believe, baby gifts do play a sterling role in educating babies about plenty of useful things. A little thought therefore, must be paid towards the utility aspect of the gifts and price should actually not be a criteria at all which unfortunately is not the case with present times.

People must understand that utility has no connection with the price and it is entirely possible that a supremely useful product can be availed at ridiculously low price. A book with the pictures of animals, birds etc. can actually go a long way in educating the kids about these wonderful creations. Similarly a CD or cassette of nursery rhymes can go a long way in helping a kid learn these wonderful compositions.

However, while purchasing baby gifts what also should be kept in mind is the fact that since they are meant for babies safety should never be compromised. It is precisely for this reason that objects made of steel, iron or glass should never be purchased for babies as risk quotient of them is very high.

If these points are considered before baby gifts are purchased then there cannot be an iota of doubt that they would prove to be extremely useful for babies.

Baby Gifts - How to Make Them Unique

Among the few rare occasions in which people feel happy by giving something to others is the time they celebrate to mark various steps of the growth of their little child. Right from the date of birth to its first birthday, a baby is pampered with a lot of gifts by both her parents as well as the near and dear ones. This shows the importance of baby gifts.

Hardly there will be any household where the special occasions in the life of a baby are not celebrated. And where there is a celebration, there are gifts. In fact, the matter of giving gifts has becomes so common that gift items are falling short to satisfy the parents. With some common baby gifts repeated again and again, it has become monotonous and less exciting to give babies a gift.

Hence, there is huge demand for customised gift items. People are very much after the things that are unique and completely different yet useable as baby gifts. To speak the truth, there is sheer shortage of such things. Hence, gift shops have taken the task of selling customised gift items. They understand the need of the buyer and give a personalised look to the common thing that is used as gifts. They do it skilfully so that the gift looks really unique.

This same thing can be done by the parents themselves. They can buy something very common and then give it a different look by making some additions or some nice changes. This can be done by being a little creative. In fact, there is no dearth of ideas of personalising baby gifts. One can come by lots of such ideas simply by keeping the eyes and the ears open. Reading magazines, talking to creative artists and searching the Internet will be of great help.

Personalized Baptism Gifts

Baptisms and Christenings are such special celebrations ... depending on whether for a Catholic or Protestant ceremony, the individual being baptized can be either baby, child or adult.

In any denomination, the proud family members celebrate the religious ceremony by inviting close friends, relatives and of course, Godparents (usually two).

Any time you are invited to attend a special religious occasion such as a christening, baptism or confirmation or first communion, you'll want to make sure and give gift that stands out from all the ordinary varieties. A personalized record of the occasion is the perfect solution. For a Christian ceremony such as a baptism, you can personalize a gift to include the individuals name, the christening date, church name and city or the priest or ministers' name. A personalized baptism gift will be the one gift that the recipients remember and cherish forever.

Another unique gift idea for a religious occasion would be a silver or ceramic cross. A ceramic cross could be inscribed with "Bless this Child" or with simply the baptismal candidates' name. A sterling silver cross tied on satin ribbon makes a beautiful bible marker and could be personalized as well with a individuals' name or his or her initials and date.

Of course, a personalized picture frame is always another unique christening gift idea; the recipient and parents have a permanent record of the occasion.

In any case, when choosing a Christening or Baptism gift, personalize it, so that you'll be sure your choice is cherished and admired by the recipients and guests forever.

What to Give As Baptismal Gift?

Here are some baptism gifts that can create a perfect remembrance:

The Baptismal Candle is lit during the baptism to bring God into the ceremony. Personalized baptismal candle will commemorate the holy baptism with its cross motif, date and location of the baptism, and the baby's name. You can purchase a Baptismal candle for the child and include a nice message about helping to light their way.
An extra special way to honor the child is to give a personalized Baptismal Cross. This will bring joy and peace to your or your loved ones' home.

A great gift also, if you are not comfortable giving monetary gift, is a 3″ Cube Money Bank or a Silver Plated Train Bank. Their parents to save the monetary gifts they would receive during he baptism can use this money bank.

A Baby Magazine Frame with the baby's baptism photo, decorated with a colorful green background and a list of whimsical article titles emblazoned on the front can be a wonderful addition to the child's room.

A Birthday Countdown Candle can also be a great baptismal gift. This keepsake candle can be used in counting up the years of their life from the first year till they reach 18.

This Signature Frame is a great alternative to the traditional paper guest book and is a wonderful keepsake on your child's baptism that can be displayed for years to come.

Jewelry is the most common baptism gift. A Sterling Silver Locket that can hold the child's photo or the family's photo can be a perfect gift as well.

Occasions vanish, but memories of that special day always stay in mind. Since they are only a baby, they will appreciate the keepsake gifts as they grow both physically and spiritually. A personalized gift is always a nice touch and allows the family to remember those days.

Visit Engravedwell.com to see a selection of personalized baptismal gifts and gifts for other occasion.

Unique Personalized Baby Gifts Ideas That Will Be Treasured Forever

Looking for a special baby gift for your best friend, family member or co-worker can be fun, but sometimes it can be a bit stressful too because you want to find something that is unique and different from anyone else. Well, thanks to the wonders of customization, it is now easier than ever before to find that special baby gift for your best friend or family member.

Below I will share with you some of my favorite ideas for personalized baby gifts.

The ceramic handpainted baby plates, cups and bowls are great for personalized baby gifts. They can be customized with a baby's information hence make them unique. Many beautiful baby plates are designed and hand-painted by talented artists, they are food and dish washer safe. These gifts will show a personalized memento of your thoughtfulness. They are great baby keepsake gifts that can be treasured.

Another of my favorite unique personalized baby gift is the baby photo album. Although it might take a bit of time (2 hours or so), I like to customize the album to make it unique and different. This can be a special gift that is sure to be treasured by many moms.

Just buy a regular photo album, some baby stickers and die-cuts. And then decorate each page in the album with baby stickers and die-cuts. Keep the decorations simple and maintain a color scheme throughout. Make sure you leave room on each page for photos. With a little creativity and time, you can make a baby gift photo album that all moms want to keep forever.

Customization and personalization can transform a gift into a keepsake that will be treasured forever. It offers a reminder of joyous occasions and perhaps can also provide incentive to hand the gift down to the next generation.

As you see, I like to buy baby gifts that can be customized to make them unique. Other great personalized baby gifts include: baby jewelry, pint-sized furniture, baby pillow, plush animal blanket, picture frame, keepsake birth certificate holders, lampshade, baby utensils, baby keepsake box, baby sweaters, diaper bag, bath towels, etc.. The list is practically endless.

Just let your creativity flows and think "personalization" when it comes to getting a unique and personalized baby gift. When the baby gets older, he or she will treasure gifts that are personalized. And if the couple have more than one child, they are likely to pass those gifts (even personalized baby utensils) down to the next child. Because unique personalized gifts can always spark happy memories.

These are just some of my favorite ideas for unique personalized baby gifts. Hope it's useful to you.

Mixing Personalized Baby Gifts and Matching Furniture in Your Nursery

Nine months is a long time to plan. Nine months to work. Nine months to search. Nine months to perfect. Part of the magic of a new child is putting together the perfect nursery to welcome the little miracle to the world. Seeing a finished nursery is one of the most magical and rewarding things you will ever experience.

Of course, it's only rewarding afterwards. Putting together any new living space can be a stressful ordeal. But putting together a living space for someone who doesn't have any tastes or ideas yet, well, that's nearly impossible, right? Thankfully, parents have been doing it for centuries and it's not that tough.

All you have to do is keep a few things in mind and just go by your own personal tastes. In the end, your baby won't mind as long as it's comfortable (remember your doing this more for yourself then the baby at this point).

If you really take a breath and think about it, the key to putting together any room in the house is pre- planning and making sure everything matches. People are going to buy personalized baby gifts for your baby, and while that's sweet unfortunately these gifts don't always match the planned decor. Because of this try and give those who you know are going to buy gifts an idea on what you want the baby's room to look like. Show them around the planning stages. Don't tell them what to buy, but instead let them in on the process so that they can buy the perfect gift that matches the overall theme of the room.

Of course, the overall theme and color scheme of your babies nursery is going to come right from your own brain. Thankfully, thanks' to the explosion of chain stores you can get most of your babies furniture and decorations at one or two locations. Plus, you can usually get everything at a pretty competitive price if you check prices at different stores. You can now get everything from cute paintings, to mirrors, to cribs, to lamps in one location, all for a cheap price (and all made in China).

Planning is paramount in making sure that you put together the perfect nursery for your baby. Before actually buying furniture and decorations, make sure you measure and diagram where you're going to put your furniture. It might sound like your being over cautious, but before you start impulsively buying furniture make sure you take precise measurements on what will go where in your nursery. Nothing is worse than putting together a crib and realizing that it's too big for an area. That's when the real stress comes in. Thankfully, by taking a few steps, you can make sure it all goes painlessly.

Baby Jewelry and Baby Name Necklaces

Did you know that jewelries aren't exclusively just for adults? These days, more and more stores, both online and offline, are selling personalized baby jewelry items for the public. Most of the time, baby name necklaces are the best-selling jewelries and they are often given as a gift for the baby during christening or other occasions to make it more memorable.

The materials being used for baby jewelry of course vary from one design to another. At times, a particular design would benefit from being made using gold while there are also those that would be made out of silver, crystal or even beads.

If you are really buying a keepsake for a christening, the most in-demand item for that would be cross necklace. Most of the time, this comes in 14 karat gold and it also has a gold chain. Aside from that, sterling silver cross necklaces decorated with beautiful beads on the edges are also perfect for those occasions.

Actually, that could even be made into baby name necklaces since some sellers offer personalizing the jewelry. The name of the child could be engraved in it to add a personal touch to your gift too. It's the same with baby latch bracelets and sterling silver bangle bracelets. These are simple looking jewelries but could be very elegant as well.

In these times, ordering online has become the norm for most parents who want to order baby jewelry without any hassle at all. Through the online sellers, it would be easier to purchase them and you could even have a great experience comparing items and prices from different websites. Regardless if you are buying it for a gift or for your own baby, you literally have thousands of options when you go online.

There are even parents that would buy jewelries that are identical for them and for their baby. For example, baby name necklaces and bracelets can be personalized so the name of the baby and his or her parents will be indicated. It really looks unique and attractive. These aren't very costly either and when you shop for it online, you can find many available options when it comes to designs and prices so you could truly get your money's worth as you go for the best deals.

Several online websites offer trendy collections and you can choose from what they have, depending on your taste and also on the budget that you have. You can even check out reviews posted by other online buyers (mostly on blogs and forums) of these baby jewelry websites so you could easily decide which one you should go to. That way, you would know which ones provide quality service and which ones receive a lot of complaints from their clients as well.

With online technology, buyers now have a lot of options when it comes to getting a baby jewelry and baby name necklaces. The process shouldn't have to be time-consuming and expensive at all when you use the internet. You'll be just a few clicks away from those beautiful keepsakes!

Personalized Baby Girl Gifts

Often, when babies are the concerns of our ideas, we get that soft-hearted feeling towards them. The more we experience that softened heart for them if the baby concerned is a girl. When you are invited to a christening of a baby girl - or at Christmas dinner where there is a baby girl in the family - you just have the heart to give a present to the baby girl.

But what would be the best gift you can give to the tender princess of the house? Something she could use now and mom could keep for reminiscing when the baby becomes a lady? Or maybe something where she could frame or post her photos for us adults to admire? These are just some ideas you could use as a springboard for your gift ideas for a baby girl. It becomes more valuable if you give her a personalized baby girl gift.

One personalized gift you could give the little princess is a toy box personally decorated or added a design by you. You can buy those plastic boxes with lids. To make it child-friendly, cover it around with a bright-colored cloth lined with foam of your desired thickness. Sew the sides by hand or machine where needed.

You can use different bright- colored cloths on every side of the box. Attach appliqués of baby characters or sew the name of the baby on top of the box. Fill it with toys, tie with a big red or pink ribbon, and bring it to the home of the little princess. Another personalized baby girl gift you can make is a re-designed lampshade for the baby girl. Although you have to buy the lampshade, you will have to plan the new décor or design for the shade.

Ask for four photos of the baby ( full facial view ) and have it scanned on any material the same size as a square or rectangular shade. Then, mount the finished imaging on the shade. Embellish the sides or edging with pink lace or ribbon. You can also personalize pillows for her. Buy baby pillows and embroider the baby's name at the center the way our grandma's used to do for us. This may take some time, though, but if the letters are not too large you can make a pretty embroidered name for the little princess.

These may sound simple, but what matters are the effort, the heart.

Personalized Kids' Gifts For Christenings - Some Cute Ideas!

Christenings are becoming more and more elaborate affairs and certainly in my country, Cyprus, they are becoming occasions which warrant great planning of themes, timing, venues, table settings and of course the traditional favours, cakes, outfits and beautiful gifts.

It is now also possible to customize many things, not only can you print personalized invitations, but the cake, the favours, table settings, decorations and presents can all be customized and tailored to the theme and of course include the child's name.

As a parent and recently a godmother, I have developed a great interest in personalized kids gifts and all items which allow you to customize and make the gift or occasion your own.

For a Greek Orthodox Christening, the godparent is charged with bringing everything the child needs for the baptism to the church, and the christening shops here in Cyprus have a wonderful array of personalized gifts and christening items.

For example, a wooden toy box which doubles as a bench can be personalized with the child's name in wooden letters on the front and decorated with your theme whether that be starfish, flowers or butterflies and of course the colours also matching your chosen designs.

Cake shops here offer a beautiful selection of christening cakes personalized with favourite cartoon characters, names, photos and small cupcakes for favours with the child's name and christening date in icing (in the colour of your theme of course!).

I personally chose a large round pink box for my goddaughter's christening. On it were beautiful lime green and fuschia pink butterflies and her name in cascading wooden hand painted letters, to match her room colours when she eventually takes the box home. Inside the box on the day of the christening were all the towels (wrapped in pink & green ribbons), her new beautiful christening dress and shoes, the pretty customized bottle containing olive oil for the christening and of course her christening cross. Her invitations also of course had the same theme and colours.

The tables at the beautiful mountain tavern where we had a celebratory lunch was decorated with small confetti strewn across of course in these colours; nowadays it is even possible to print your own confetti with names and not only colours.

My own daughter's christening, which was shortly after this, had a butterfly theme, so we had butterfly balloons personalized with her name and the date, a chocolate cake with butterflies on it, all with my chosen pink and lemon colour theme.

It is also Greek Orthodox tradition for a candle to be lit during the baptism and this candle is dressed with organza and in this case also had yellow butterflies & pink ribbons on it to tie in with the theme. Aside from the gifts from the godparent, those guests invited to the christening also have a vast array of beautiful personalized gifts to choose from - one of the sweetest things I received was a wooden handmade sign saying 'A Star is Born' with my daughter's name and date of birth on it.

A personalized keep sake box for baby's first tooth and baby first curl was also a delightful present, and a beautiful bedtime story book with the name of my daughter as the star of the story is now essential reading before lights out! These are wonderful personally touching presents which leave a warm feeling behind, as the person bearing this gift went to the trouble to make it that little bit more special.

After receiving these gifts, I chose to never immediately run to the toy store for future gifts but to seek out that something a little more unique to give not only for the birth of a baby, but for christenings, birthdays and even Christmas. I think it is very important to remember that a personalized kids' gift will be cherished for far longer than a regular toy. And with the very large variety of personalized items on offer nowadays, every taste and budget can be catered for.

"Best Baby Gifts" include Fill In The Blankie

As reported on ABC's Phoenix affiliate morning show "Sonorian Living." What makes these baby blankets so unique? It's all about the "ultra personalization." These folks let you embroider up to 200 characters along all 4 satin edges. It's your opportunity to personalize a story or include a nursery rhyme -- something far more meaningful than a monogram or just a name and a birth date.

Using Kids Decals to Create Personalized Baby Gifts!

Have you ever wished you could create unique baby gifts for those sweet little people in your life? Personalized or monogrammed gifts are beautiful and memorable but often expensive. If you're like me, I enjoy the challenge of creating my own gifts, that are still beautiful and memorable, but are more friendly to my wallet! However, I realize there are many folks out there who say, "Yeah, that's a nice idea, but I have no artistic talent!" No worries... this particular project requires only a bit of courage, a few hours of time and NO artistic ability.

In this article, I will walk you through the process of how you can create a personalized baby gift for that next little baby who needs a "welcome to the world" gift! What makes this project both simple and professional looking is the proper use of kids decals. These decals give the appearance that you've spent hours tediously hand painting the gift, when if fact, it only took minutes.

In case you are not familiar with kids decals, let me catch you up to speed. Decals are a rising trend in the world of interior design and are nothing short of amazing! They are thin, flexible, but durable, vinyl stickers that are capable of being removed and repositioned multiple times. They leave no sticky residue behind and they won't peel paint. Most people think of using kids decals simply on walls or furniture, but they really offer endless possibilities for decorating children's living space, making art and gifts. Kids decals come in all shapes, sizes and themes.

So, let's get started! First of all, you have to buy your kids decal! Truly there are so many options and themes available. I suggest looking for a grouping or set of smaller decals. For little girls, there are fairies, flowers, butterflies, etc. For boys, you may be interested in a baseball, ship, jungle animals, etc. Also, keep in mind that you can cut decals to fit the size project you're working on. Now for the "Project"!

Step 1: Gather your supplies and make your plans. You'll need a wooden plaque. These can be purchased at your local craft store. I suggest a size bigger than 8 x 10, otherwise, you'll start running out of room till you get to your decal. The rest of the supplies you need are primer, acrylic paints, brushes, pencil, chalk and a paper plate. Pick your paint colors to coordinate with the colors of your decal. I suggest only using 1-3 different colors to avoid it becoming too busy.

Step 2: Primer your plaque. If the colors you plan to paint your plaque are light, then go with a white primer. If the colors are darker, you'll save yourself time by using a gray primer because you won't need as many coats to get a true color.

Step 3: Paint your plaque with the background color of your choice. I suggest 2-3 thinner coats of paint or until you get a true color and you can't see the primer through the paint anymore. Let the paint dry!

Step 4: I like to create a boarder on the plaque, either with stripes or a scallop edge. Stripes are pretty straight forward to create. Just make sure you use a ruler to keep them straight. For a scalloped edge (looks beautiful on a girl plaque), sketch in your scallops using a round object. Trace the top half of the circle around the outside edge of your plaque. A few tips; roughly measure out your circles, so that you don't run out of room at the end of the plaque. Try different round objects around your house until you find one that works. I used the bottom of the paint bottles and they worked perfectly.

Step 5: Paint your scalloped edge and the center of your plaque - that is if you're using a scalloped edge. Again, I suggest 2-3 thinner coats of paint or until you get a true color and you can't see the primer through the paint anymore. Now, let the paint dry!

Step 6: Create the monogram or name. First, print out the letters and date from your computer. Pick a font that you like and print it out in the size you want. In order to copy it onto your plaque, rub chalk on the back of the printed paper. Place the chalked letters onto your plaque. Now with a ball-point pen, trace over the printed letters and date. When you're done, you'll have a chalk outline of the letters and dates to paint over. The great thing about this is, if you don't get your letters or date centered the first try, you can just wipe the chalk off and go for try #2.

Step 7: Paint in your letters and date with a coordinating color. Use a fine point brush for the lettering! Don't worry, if you mess up, keep some background color handy and you can fix up your mistakes with a little of that paint.

Step 8: Add the kids decals. Simply peel them off the backing they came on, stick them to the dry plaque and press down the edges! Because these childrens wall stickers are removable, you don't have to worry about getting it right the first time. If it's off center, just peel it up and reapply it!

Let it all dry and cure for a few days, wrap it up and deliver with love!

I hope this article was helpful and inspired you to create a baby gift that is affordable, beautiful and timeless! As you can see, by reading through this process, you don't have to be an artist to create special, one of a kind gifts. Really, the options are limitless and I hope you use this article as a springboard for many other projects using kids decals!
