Baby Shower Gift Basket Sets: As Easy As It Gets!

Baby Shower Gift Basket Sets: As Easy As It Gets!

With friends and family scattered all over the country and the economy and work commitments being what they are today, it isn't easy seeing those people we love as often as we would like. It seems like we miss out on so many things in various people's lives, simply because we live so far away and either don't have the time or the money to travel. One thing you don't want to miss out on is the birth of that new niece or nephew, grandchild, or your best friends first or even fifth baby. Even if you can't be there for the big event or even the shower, you want to make sure that your loved one knows you are thinking about them at this special time and that you are excited about the upcoming birth of that new little person. You may not be able to show up for the shower, but you can make sure that a great baby shower gift basket arrives at her front door.

Great Gifts Shipped Right To The Door

One of the things that makes baby shower gift baskets so great is that you can send some really special items right to the front door of the home where the shower is being held. That way your friend or relative knows you are there in spirit even if you can't attend in person. Many of these new baby gift baskets have beautiful, thoughtful and unique gifts in them that are sure to be a great hit with the new mom and dad. What's even better is they come in all different styles and price ranges so they can fit into any budget and they can be custom fit for a boy and girl.  Here are just a few items you might find in baby shower gift baskets today: stuffed animals, baby CDs, keepsake boxes for that first tooth or first lock of hair, picture frames, T-shirts, beanies, booties, shampoos and soaps made just for baby, rubber duckies, towels, booties and even story books and teethers. You can get specialized baskets, for bathtime, bedtime or many general baskets for use through out the baby's day.

Adorably Displayed

One of the things that make a new baby gift basket such a great gift to send is that these baskets come adorably displayed. Some come in diaper bags while others come in laundry baskets, wicker cradles, or other cute displays that can be kept in the babies room to help keep it organized or be used when shopping. That way the actual packaging becomes part of the gift itself, making less waste and more use for the new parent.  Variety of Gifts  What really makes baby shower gift baskets so special however, is that you are not just sending the new mother one gift for the baby but, several. For those of you who have shopped for baby shower gifts in the past you know how difficult it can be choosing between those things you know the baby really needs and those cute little items that you really want to buy. New baby gift baskets often combine the absolute necessities with at least one or two cute adorable gifts so that you are giving that new baby the best of both worlds. Many of the items in the new baby gifts baskets are items that are truly unique and usually not often thought of such, as a hand print kit, or a keepsake box for babies first tooth. While these gifts are truly appreciated and definitely used, they are often overlooked when shopping in a store for a baby gift, mainly because shopping always seems so rushed. However, since many of these baby shower gift baskets are put together by people who are or have been mothers themselves, they have had the time to think about these little additions that will make your baby shower gift basket unforgettable.  Shopping Made Easy    Shopping online for baby shower gift baskets is easy and simple and you have a large number of gift baskets to choose from. You can look over each baskets content in the comfort of your own home and then place the order and have it delivered right to the front door of the baby's home. Nothing could be easier than that.New baby gifts baskets are a wonderful way to share the joy of that new arrival whether you live right next door or a continent away.

Planning a Baby Shower- Baby Shower Questions Answered

Find common questions people ask when planning a baby shower answered below.

Who should host the baby shower? Traditionally, only non-relatives are supposed to host a baby shower -- co-workers, church groups, friends etc. However, it has become more common and acceptable for mothers and sisters to host showers too. It is also perfectly acceptable for more than one person to host a baby shower. The only one who absolutely should not host a shower is the expecting mom herself!

Who pays the bill? How much should the host spend? Usually the host/hosts will pay for the cost of the baby shower. This is when it might be nice to co-host a shower with someone else. How much you spend depends on a variety of factors such as whether you will serve a full meal or just hors d'oeuvres, what kinda of cake you will have, where you have the party, what type of games and prizes you plan on (if any), whether you give out favors and how elaborate you are with decorations.

Who do I invite? How should I invite the guests? You will likely have some idea of who you want to invite to the shower, but it is always a safe bet to run the guest list by the mom-to-be (or a close relative or friend if the shower is a surprise) to ensure you haven't left anyone out or invited anyone they rather not be present. If the shower is not for a firstborn, you may want to invite only those close to the mom-to-be or those who have not attended previous showers. Guests can be invited via a phone, e-mail or a written invitation. Written invitations are the most popular way to invite guests mainly because serve as a great reminder for the guests and they allow the hostess to give guests a taste of what the theme will be. You can purchase pre-printed invitations or make the invitations by hand. No matter what type of invitation you use, be sure to include important information such as the date, time and place of the shower, if there is a theme you would like the guests to follow, whether the gender of the baby is known or if gifts should be neutral, where the mom-to-be has registered and a map or directions to the shower.

Should the men be invited? This really depends on what type of shower you are planning. For the most part, guys likely will not be interested in playing traditional "shower" games, eating cutesy foods and talking about pregnancy and childbirth. However, a shower can be a special event for expecting dads as well as moms if they're done with women and men in mind. If the party is not a surprise, be sure to check with the mom-to-be as to whether the dad (and his friends) would enjoy a baby celebration. If she agrees, go from there. If you are including games at your shower, be sure to make them "men friendly? and have plenty of food available for your male guests. It would be a nice touch to include gifts that are special for the new dad -- a book on fathers and children, an "I love my daddy" bib for the baby, or maybe a frame Dad can take to the office to display a new picture of his baby!

Should I invite someone who has recently miscarried or is dealing with infertility? While your friend may not want to attend the shower because it would be too painful, she may feel even more hurt if she isn't invited at all. Gently ask your friend if she would feel up to coming -- no pressure. Assure her that it is OK for her to decline the invitation if a shower is just too difficult for her.

Where should I have the shower? Showers are normally held in the home of the hostess. However, you can certainly host a shower at a favorite restaurant or banquet hall -- it really all depends on what atmosphere you are looking for and how much money you want to spend.

When to throw a baby shower? Showers are normally given before the baby is born, generally a month or two before the mom's due date. It's a good idea to give the mom enough time following the shower to shop for items she didn't receive, yet wants to have before the baby arrives. And of course you don't want to hold the shower too close to baby's due date in case he or she makes an early arrival! Another option is to hold a "welcoming shower" a few weeks after the baby arrives, particularly if guests want to bring gifts specifically for a boy or girl. This is also an option if there are special out-of-town relatives (baby's grandparents, for example) that are coming post-birth and would love to attend the shower but cannot arrange two trips.

Should the baby shower be a surprise? Surprises can be fun if they are the kind of thing the expecting mother usually enjoys. If the shower is going to be a surprise, you will need the help of those close to mom to find out her needs and wants for the baby. You'll also want to plan the guest list carefully, checking it with a relative or friend to make sure you haven't left anyone out who is close to the expecting mom or invited someone the new mom would prefer not be there. Although surprises are nice, throwing a baby shower that is not a surprise is obliviously much easier to do. It gives the hostess a chance to review the menu and guest list with the new mom and allows the mom to register for baby gifts and let the hostess know her preferences. No matter whether the shower is a surprise or not, keep in mind that it is for the mom to be! Make sure she has a comfy chair to sit in, someone to hand her gifts, her favorite foods, and plenty of help getting the gifts to her car and into her home. After all, it's her special day!

Should a baby shower be held for a couple whose adopting? A baby shower is a wonderful way to help new parents welcome an adopted child into the family. Before the shower, talk with the mom about what items she needs for the child. Also, be sure not to host the shower too early so that the parents will be welcoming the new child into their home. If the adoption does not go as planned, the shower can add to the new parents' heartache.

Should baby showers be held for the second, third, fourth, etc.. baby? Many believe a baby shower should only be held for the first child. However, it has become more common for baby showers to be held for every child whether it is the first or the tenth. After all, each child is special and deserves special recognition. Parents will appreciate some new clothes for baby, especially if they are having a different gender child from their other(s). At the same time there are probably various new baby products that weren't around when they had their first child. If you feel that the parents-to-be are all set with baby gear and clothes, you can give them the gift of your time. New moms will certainly appreciate a gift of babysitting, your assistance with household chores or a home cooked meal. It's also a nice idea to give something to the parents for themselves such as a gift certificate for dinner at a restaurant or tickets to a movie (with babysitting provided of course). You can also give mom something she can use to pamper herself or something that will make her feel special such as spa products, a sweet treat, a robe and slippers or even a piece of jewelry. How elaborate you would like to be with the baby shower and gifts is up to you.

When should the mom-to-be register for gifts? If the mom-to-be intends on registering, she should do so about a month before the shower. This allows the host to send the registration information along with the invitations. Some women think the whole idea of registering for gifts is rude because you are telling your guests what to get you. Truth is, registering saves a lot of frustration for the mom-to-be, the hostess and the guests. Not only does it prevent duplicate baby shower gifts, but it also allows the mommy-to-be to receive gifts she both needs and wants. Remember...you can suggest to your guests that the mom-to-be has registered somewhere, but whether or not they actually follow the baby registry is up to them.

Baby Shower Gifts - Welcoming Gifts For the Little One

A baby shower is normally thrown to a mom-to-be who is blessed with a wonderful news that she will be having a baby. Traditionally, the shower is only for the expectant mom, however today, baby showers can now be thrown to both parents. It is either held months before the expected date or after the birth of the child.

During the baby shower, the guest of honor (mom-to-be) is expected to be showered with lots of useful gifts, such as baby clothes, diapers, toys, baby bottles, diaper bags and other basic things supplies that she will need for her baby. While such can be very easy to acquire, there are other people, however, who prefer to make their own creative baby shower gift at home. One easy idea is arranging baby items in a basket. Aside from homemade baby gift baskets, there are also other easy handmade gifts like dolls, teddy bears and jewelry.

Typically, baby shower gifts are meant to be practical, useful and beneficial to the new parents. They doesn't necessarily need to be something for the baby alone. For example, breastfeeding supplies can make a great choice of baby shower gift if the mom prefers to breastfeed her child. Gifts for siblings are also fine to give. If it is not their first baby and since the little one could not appreciate the cuteness of presents, it would be much better to gift older siblings. Board games and toys can be presented to them.

There are also gifts that can be consumed right away, like homemade edible treat. There are some people who prefer to make homemade dishes, which is also nice because the treats can actually be consumed during the party. One popular suggestion is a homemade baby shower cake that will be shared by everyone.

Nowadays, organic baby gifts are gaining popularity over other kinds of gifts. It is always an advantage to use organic baby products primarily because they are safe infants use. Organic baby shower gifts usually include 100% pure cotton baby layettes, bath supplies and baby foods made of organic ingredients.

Additionally, gift certificates are another great baby shower gifts for the new parents. With such, they will be able to buy whatever they need for their upcoming bundle of joy. Usually, new parents tend to be excited of buying baby stuff that are a bit more expensive than others like stroller, crib, bassinet, and other nursery furniture, however, overlook small things like a digital camera, picture frames, or photo albums which can help them save first few memories of their little.

Today, baby shower gifts can be personalized depending on one's desire. There are lots of websites these days that offer services to personalized baby blankets, baby diaper bags, infant outfits, nursery furniture, baby jewelry, toys and etc. Personalized baby gifts usually have the name, initial or even a photo or date of birth of the child. There are even some that can be engraved or embroidered with a line of poem or a sweet personal message from the giver.

Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas

Early on in the tradition, many guests made the gifts, adding a personalized touch to each gift they gave. Today, gifts still have a personal touch but more and more people are opting to buy gifts and then have the gifts personalized, rather than make the gift themselves.

In fact, in these modern times we have been going back to the more primitive, organic way of life. This is why organic baby products such as certified organic cotton clothing, bedding, or even BPA free baby bottles are a huge hit as baby shower gifts.

Picture frames and scrapbooking necessities are also a huge baby shower hit. These items arm the parents with everything they will need to show off their precious little one and keep each milestone and memory alive.

Nursery items such as Crib Fitted Sheets (a few orders of them), a comforter, bumper pads, a mobile, waterproof crib pads and mattress protector, and a blanket to swaddle the infant are all great gift choices. If you know the nursery room theme or color scheme, be sure to buy items that will match the décor of the room.

If your budget allows, go with a more expensive but very useful for the parents-to-be gift such as a stroller, bassinet, baby dresser, baby changing table, baby car seat high chair, baby swing or bouncy seat. Often these are the types of gifts are acceptable to get as a group. Everyone chips in to purchase top of the line high-end gifts that are definitely much needed.

Stuffed animals and educational toys are also great gift picks. Personalized baby toys are available at many specialty stores and online baby gift stores. Remember, when it comes to toys and games think ahead-the baby will not be an infant forever; choose educational toys and games that are for ages 6 to 9 months and even 12 to 18 months.

Bath items such as hooded towels, washcloths, baby lotion, shampoo, soap, baby brush, and bath toys are excellent items to group together in a baby gift basket-then the basket can be used by the mom in the future.

Do not forget the mom-to-be. A labor and delivery survival kit is a huge hit. On the baby shower invitations ask everyone to bring one item to contribute to the "Labor and Delivery Survival Kit". Some items are stop watch, slipper socks, headband, back massager, body lotion, lip balm, disposable camera, a contact list and of course a tote or bag large enough for all the goodies and a change of clothes. Stick some inspirational products in there as well, like a sentimental card of family photo. Think about after delivery as well. Include a gift certificate for a massage or manicure and pedicure at a local spa.

When trying to decide what to give as a baby shower gift, remember, personalized baby gifts add that extra touch and some are even passed on from generation to generation. It is truly wonderful to give a gift that you know will become a family heirloom.

Homemade Baby Shower Favor Ideas

A baby shower is a wonderful event, celebrated to welcome the upcoming little bundle of joy. While guests are busy finding and choosing baby shower gifts, the host of the shower also want to give something by the end of the party. Baby shower favors, to be exact, are keepsakes given to baby shower guests before they leave the event. These favors are a true memento to remember a wonderful affair that shows love and gratitude to the new family.

There are so many variety of shower favors available in the market today. While others tend to be quick when it comes to favors, there are some who are willing to invest time to make their party favors as personal as possible. One great way to show off a personal touch on your shower favors is to make your own at home. Homemade party souvenirs are not only a practical, less expensive favor idea, but they are also a thoughtful way to tell your guests that you have exerted extra effort to make wonderful take-home gifts for them. By making party favors on your own, you will definitely be able to include your own personal touches, which your guests can't find in any store. Since you will be giving homemade baby shower favors, your guests will feel they were given a gift that is specially made for them!

When it comes to homemade baby shower favors, there are so many ideas you may consider to make at home. One of the easiest favor ideas to make are bags of goodies. You can buy pre-made favor bags, or make your own, too. Each bag may contain sweet treats, such as candies and cookies. You can make homemade cookies and shape them using a cookie cutter. There are several cookie cutter shapes to choose from, such as baby bottle-shape, rattle-shape, booties-shape, carriage-shape cookie cutter. You can get creative when designing your cookies, like you can sprinkle them with different colors of edible accents. You mind is the only limit you have when making homemade edible shower favors.

Alternatively, you can also create non-edible shower favors at home. For example, you can always try making your own scented candle or soap favors. All you need to do is to purchase DIY kits for homemade candles or soaps at your local craft store. The DIY kits usually include all the materials and instructions on how to make such projects. After which, you can then finish your chosen DIY shower favors with your own touch of decorations and accents.

While the host want to make homemade baby shower favors, the guests can also make their own shower gifts at home. Homemade shower gifts are as personalized as homemade party favors. One of the easiest homemade baby gifts to make are personalized baby gift baskets. Gift baskets usually contain numerous baby accessories and some extra treats for mom. A guest can make her own gift basket and decorate it with her own unique touch.

Make Your Own Personalized Favor Labels for a Wedding, Baby Shower, Or Other Gifts

Favor labels are one of the things that every gift giver enjoys doing. No matter what type is being used, people have fun designing them, creating them, and jotting down the perfect words for them. Favor labels add a personalized touch to wedding favors, bridal shower favors, baby shower favors, and various other party favors. Here are the different types of favor labels and refer to them so you know which type is best for the type of favor you will be giving.

The basic materials in creating a favor label are: Vellum, specialty papers, stiff cloth, ribbon, adhesive backed paper, stickers and labels, and specialty foils. If you have these materials, or if you can easily purchase some, then you just need a little creativity and your personal touch to be able to create your very own favor labels.

There are different types of favors and the major types are card tags, hang tags, labels or stickers, and ribbon tags.

If you opt to use hang tags:
-They are the most popular favor tags used on weddings.
-They are commonly punched with holes and placed on the favor or favor package along with silk ribbon, a curled ribbon, or some other type of string or ribbon.
-They are open tags as no side is adhered to the favor itself.
-They are available in different shapes such as rectangular, square, diamond-shaped, heart-shaped, and circular.
-Most often used in wedding favors that are bagged, or tied to the handles of pails.

For mini cards:
-You may opt to use this if you have a longer message or if you have more wordings on your favors.
-They are often used in a similar manner as hangtags, with a hole-punched and secured with some type of ribbon.
-They can also be adhered to the outside of favor boxes or enveloped and slipped under the ribbon of a favor package.

For labels or stickers:
-Information is printed or written on an adhesive label
-The label is placed directly on the favor box or favor itself

For ribbon tags:
-Can also be used on candles and jarred items.
-A ribbon is printed with the desired wording and secured around the favor or favor box.
-They are often made from satin picot or paper ribbon, although they may also be available in other materials as well.

As special as the favors themselves, choose a favor label that will show your style and personality. Put in some effort in making these as it will show if you took the time in creating them or just hastily put them on the favor. Have fun in making them too and do not be stressed over them. Ask the help of friends so you can finish all the needed favor labels in time.

Giving a Baby Shower Gift

Sometimes it's hard to decide what to give as a baby shower gift. If they have a baby registry, then it's easy, you just pick out what they want. If you want to give something extra that is special, or if they don't have a registry, it can be hard to think of something that is unique but useful. Follow these guidelines and you should have no trouble finding something for the new special baby!

Give them a financial gift. You might not think of a savings bond as something special for a baby, but it could come in handy later on, especially when it comes time for them to go to college. You can give them a savings bond. They come in denominations of $50 and up. You can buy electronic bonds, but for a baby gift it would be easier to purchase a certificate at a bank. You could also give a share of stock. You can buy one share of stock such as Disney and get the fancy certificate framed. Maybe you'll spark a trait of investing in them as they grow up when they want to find out what it is and what it means. You can also give them a piggy bank, maybe with some cash inside to start them off. This way you can give them a chance to save and teach them about money.

Give them a personalized gift. You can personalize just about anything these days. If you give them a baby blanket, stuffed animal, picture frame, or plate, have it personalized. It will hold special meaning to them when it has their name on it. You might still have something you received as a baby that had your name engraved or printed on it. It's something special that they can cherish.

Give them something practical. If you need to give a gift to someone that doesn't have a registry and maybe you know they are having trouble affording the new baby, give them something practical. You can be as basic as diapers or extravagant as a fancy stroller, bed, or baby carrier. If you give them something they can use, they will really appreciate it. Try to pick out something you know they will like that will match their style. Use their favorite colors or colors that will match the gender of the baby.

If you don't know them well, you might want to give them supplies such as baby formula, bottles, bibs, or diapers. These can be used up so it doesn't matter what they look like. Baby clothes are another great item to get. You can never have too many baby clothes. Try not to get them all infant clothes because the baby will grow. Get them an array of sizes. Also, try to keep in mind the season. If they are going to be born at the end of spring, don't by them infant winter clothes, just because the shower is being held in the winter. By the time they need to use the clothes, the baby won't fit into them.

The best way to shop for a baby gift is to give according to the mother's needs. If they have everything, you might want to go the financial route. If they have nothing, be practical. Having a baby is an exciting time. Give them something they will appreciate!

Some Initial Ideas

When shopping for unique baby shower gifts, consider food items. You can never really go wrong with giving food as a gift. This is especially applicable when you are attending the baby shower itself. Think of your food gift as a help to the mother hosting the party. You can also donate your recipes to the mother for her own collection. This way the mother can take away something even after the party is over.

Another great idea is a personalized baby gift. Nothing shows thought more than an item that is unique to the recipient. Consider embroidering the name of the child on a blanket or bib. Even if the item is mundane, the personal touch will make it special. It does not take a lot to show how much you really care.

Make Her A Star

Another interesting angle is to focus on the mother. You can put together a presentation about her. It would celebrate the kind of person she is. Doing this also celebrates the beauty of her child. You can also prepare a scrap book for the guests to fill up. They can write down their memories in the book. The mother can treasure this forever. Also, when the child grows older, he can read the book and gain an appreciation of the events in his baby shower. This is another great way to keep the memory of the event alive. And the great thing about it is it involves the people attending the event. You can even take this advice to another level by making a scrapbook filled with parental advice. This will be such a valuable gift to the new parents. Imagine the collective wisdom of friends and family all contained in a book and written in their own handwriting.

If you really can't come up with anything, never fear. Some parents actually make up their own gift lists. You can take an item off that list and personalize it. You then have very unique baby shower gifts that show a lot of care and thought on your part. No one will be unhappy with a special gift that is meant for him alone. It will be very apparent that you really planned the purchase if you personalize the item. So find small ways to give your gift that personal touch. The recipient will probably be that much happier for it.
